The Fu-Schnickens - La Schmoove - Video

Fu-Schnickens was an American hip-hop trio. Similar to Das EFX for their cartoonish lyrics and near-constant allusions to pop culture staples, they were the first Hip Hop artists to rap in backwards fashion.  The Fu-Schnickens' popularity was brief but significant in hip hop history.

Their best known track is 1993's "What's Up Doc? (Can We Rock)," featuring basketball star Shaquille O'Neal.

Da Brat - Funkified

Da Brat has clearly displayed an album purely for a ladies night, which is undoubtedly reflected in the title of her fourth release – Limelight, Luv and Nightclubs. Those of you who have been faithful to the So So Def female rapper, Ms Shawntaee` Harris, may be a little surprised with the direction she has taken with this album. I don’t think we should expect her to hit platinum like she did with her debut, Funkdafied or with one of her best album’s to date, Anuthatantrum.

The reason why I say the direction has changed is perhaps previously we would have heard from Da Brat a representation of the streets and a touch of gangsta rap. However with her previous and current release, we hear echoes of what other female popular rappers tend to rap about – sex.

Now it could be evident that Ms Harris no longer wants to be classified as a ‘brat’ in this rap game.
Perhaps she wants to be seen as a woman who has been through sexual and relationship experiences just like any other female artist or is she altering her style to compete with others in the industry?

This is clear with the change in her image from her latest video to her album cover where Da Brat is dripped in Dolce & Gabbana, dressed in a black pair of hot pants and a matching corset…
I think you get my drift!  Female rappers were doing it too.

More on Da Brat coming soon......... Video

Del La Soul - Breakadawn - Video
De La Soul is an American hip hop trio formed in 1987 on Long Island, New York.  The band is best known for their eclectic sampling, quirky lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip hop subgenres.

The members are Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos, Mercenary, Plug Wonder Why, Plug One), David Jude Jolicoeur (Trugoy the Dove, Dave, Plug Two) and Vincent Mason (P.A. Pasemaster Mase, Maseo, Plug Three, Baby Huey).

The three formed the group in high school and caught the attention of producer Prince Paul with a demo tape of the song "Plug Tunin'". Prince Paul was also sometimes referred to as Plug Four.

The Plug names are alleged to come from the numbers that each bandmate's microphone was labeled on the soundboard. Posdnuos was always plugged into plug one, Trugoy was plugged into plug two, and so forth.

Above The Law - VSOP - Video

Above the Law is a rap group from Pomona, California, founded in 1989 by Cold 187um, KMG the Illustrator, Go Mack, and DJ Total K-Oss.  In 1989, the group signed to the late Eazy-E's Ruthless Records. There they became close associates of the pioneering gangsta rap group N.W.A.

Their first album on Ruthless, 1990's Livin' Like Hustlers, featured guest appearances from N.W.A. members and some production from Dr. Dre. Above the Law member Cold187um worked closely with Dre on production and the two had great influence on each other. The songs "Untouchable" and "Murder Rap" became minor hits from the album.

"Murder Rap" appeared in the in the video game Grand Theft Auto:  West Coast fictional radio station, Radio Los Santos[1] as well as the 2008 film "Pineapple Express". The song "Freedom of Speech" appeared in the 1990 movie "Pump Up the Volume" and was also featured on the movie soundtrack album.
Wreck 'n' Effects - Rump Shakur
Now that's what i call a party! - I still get goose pimples listening to this - with Teddy Riley producing the single of the same name, this US vocal group announced their arrival of New Jack Swing.
Put together so successfully by the sensational Markell Riley (Teddy's brother funny enough), Brandon Mitchell (The Riley's half brother) - won't complicate things further and Aquil Davidson a mate. The groups career was rocked by the death of Brandon in a 1989 shooting.
Having said all that, Rump Shaker took rap music to a new level albiet for a brief inspiring period.

Black Sheep - Similack Child - Video
Black Sheep is an alternative hip hop duo from Queens, New York, composed of Andres "Dres" Titus and William "Mista Lawnge" McLean. The duo is from New York but met as teenagers in North Carolina, where both of their families relocated.

The group was an affiliate of the Native Tongues, which included the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul.

It debuted in 1991 with the hit song "Flavor of the Month" and later released its first album, A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, which gained them praise and recognition in the hip-hop community for the album’s unique rhythms and intelligent lyrics.

Eazy - E - We Want Eazy (Exclusive Video)
Eazy along with Dr. Dre, Ice-Cube, MC Ren and Yellam, formed the original rap super group N.W.A. (Niggers With Attitude). The lyrics of N.W.A. shocked many listeners including government officials as other raps lyrics from that time discussed issues of economic and social upheaval.

Songs such as **** Police and Straight Outta Compton (L.A. West Cost) became huge anthems for the then urbanization and youth culture.  Funny enough Eazy - E label was founded through drug   money from Eazy's days on the streets.

But he rose above that to become one of the greatest rappers of all time. Ladies and gentlemen - I am in no way condoning drug use or the selling of drugs in a bid to modify or kick off your rap career, more to highlight the fact that America had huge rap talents who were unable to break through the music industry for various social and economic discriminatory reasons and found themselves using the only tool available to make the 'I have a dream' reality come true.
You may recall soon into his days with N.W.A tensions rose among members of the group which led to final separations and arguments. Eazy established his remarkable solo career from that point. Who can forget Dr. Dre's solo collaborations to raps prestige industry?
Eazy passed away in 1995 from AIDS. Sadly enough Eazy never made amends with the God Father of Hip Hop Dr. Dre. - Peace and love y'all. Life is short, make time to resolve petting disputes and arguments and listen to Eazy - E kick off by clicking the video button below.

THE END OF YO! MTV RAP'S *

Yo! MTV Raps had its series finale on August 17, 1995. Numerous high-profile names in the world of hip-hop closed the show out with a freestyle rap session. Salt-N-Pepa holds the distinction of appearing on the first (technically, the first episode to feature Fab 5 Freddy) and last episodes of Yo! MTV Raps.

From 1996 to 1999, MTV repackaged it as simply Yo! The repackaged version was far more stripped down. Yo! had a weekly slate of special guest hosts. Angie Martinez and Fatman Scoop served as its hosts. By 1997, Yo! was hosted by various Hip Hop and Rap artists. By 1998, Yo! had no guest hosts and became a one hour program airing late Friday nights at 1am or 1:30am (Eastern Standard Time). With the occasion of Thursdays.

In 2000, MTV's outlet for hip-hop videos became Direct Effect, known since 2006 as Sucker Free. It airs three times a week around 7:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time). It is one of the few music video outlets for MTV besides its late-night/early-morning music video rotation hours, as MTV continues to focus on non-music video programming, especially reality television shows.

20th Anniversary *

In April 2008, Yo! MTV Raps celebrated its 20th anniversary[3] by making a comeback on MTV. MTV's show Sucker Free transformed into Yo! MTV Raps and featured classic hip-hop music videos as well as current hip-hop videos. Fab 5 Freddy, Dr. Dre and Ed Lover contributed to the tribute of the show. At the end of April 2008, MTV aired Yo! countdown shows and featured the top moments from the show during its airing on MTV.
